Books
In our first five years of operation West County Reads! distributed over 25,000 books to West County families. The books were distributed through a variety of organizations and locations serving low-income families, including among others:
- WCCUSD school sites (in our "Take It, Leave It" bookshelves program in Reading First Schools)
- Ujima West (residential drug program)
- The Read Aloud Volunteer Program
- Richmond Health Center
- Kaiser Permanente Pediatric Department, Richmond
Wee Care Preschool, El Sobrante
- The Healing Garden
- West County Alliance for Literacy
- Literacy for Every Adult Program (LEAP)
- Even Start Program, Contra Costa College
- The Emergency Service Providers Network
**One of the primary ways you can help ensure that all West County children have an opportunity to learn to read is to help us collect books.**
